SEATTLE, August 27th, 2007 / -- Weapons of the Gods Companion News

Eos Press would like to announce that the long-awaited WotG Companion will soon be available – shipping to the States in September, arriving in stores in October. Coming to a total of beautifully-printed 204 pages and full-color throughout, the book will look good on any shelf, particularly next to the core rule book. Unfortunately, an error crept in during printing, so there are some column shifts and a few missing pages – which we are solving by making the missing pages available in attractive booklets that will ship with the book! The booklet will have not only the missing pages of content, but also additional material not available anywhere else.

“We deeply regret the printing error – a byproduct of rushing things for GenCon. I am, however, happy to say that our other products, such as Unhallowed Metropolis and the Wormweird Tarot, turned out just as they should. We are working doubly hard to ensure that other such errors don't occur in the future."
-- Brad Elliott (Product Developer for Eos Press)

SEATTLE, August 23rd, 2007 / -- Eos Press At GenCon – A Post-Convention Report

Eos had a wonderful time at GenCon 2007 – we had a good location (right next to Privateer Press and facing White Wolf!), new products like Unhallowed Metropolis, the Weapons of the Gods Companion, the Wormweird Tarot and the recently-released Lesser Shades of Evil, and a full schedule of events featured on page 54 of the GenCon Program!

“Eos did very well this year, particularly with our Events. Unhallowed Metropolis events were full up, with both Weapons of the Gods and Lesser Shades of Evil getting in some larger groups as well! On top of that, we got a lot of great people to play, too.” -- Brad Elliott (Product Developer for Eos Press)

This year's GenCon featured the debut of Unhallowed Metropolis – the Neo-Victorian roleplaying game of gas-mask chic. A compelling alternate-history horror game, Unhallowed Metropolis is about raging against the dying of the light in a dark world blighted by the plague of the undead – and the debut copies sold out for the show! Featuring cover art by the talented photo-sculptor George Higham, the game was written by Jason Soles (of Warmachine and Iron Kingdoms) and Nicole Vega, a scientist in her own right – here, she evokes a visual impression of the setting:

“Visual sample? Try reading From Hell and a volume of Paracelsus while watching Night of the Living Dead and an autopsy documentary, while drinking an absinthe cocktail garnished with a live, sparking electrode.”
-- Nicole Vega (Co-Author of Unhallowed Metropolis)

Then there is the Weapons of the Gods Companion - arriving on these shores at last! Though copies were limited, they too did sell out as well... a fine start for a book long-awaited! Including the Million Style Manual (the kung-fu engineering ruleset... invent your own martial arts!), Thrashing Minister City (an entire kung-fu chinese city!), New God-Weapons and the Great Game... a fully scalable rules engine that allows you to handle diplomatic, military and economic conflicts!

“We encourage you to experiment and enjoy yourselves doing whatever you like with the system. Post your styles on the Eos Press forums, hold all-comers Kung Fu tournaments, and generally play around to your heart’s content. You’ll discover, above all, that making Kung Fu is fun!”
-- Jye Nicolson (Co-Author of The Million Style Manual, from the Weapons of the Gods Companion)

The Wormweird Tarot is a new tarot deck dreamed up in the alchemical imagination of George Higham – who created the gorgeous covers of Unhallowed Metropolis! Featuring eighty cards with each a unique photo-sculpture, the Eos Press Booth actually had two of the very sculptures on display at the show! The two pieces were the Hand of Orpheus – a hand of glory with the Wormweird Sigil engraved in its palm – and the Plague Cart Leper – the face from the Suit of Shadows in the deck!

“The path to enlightenment has never been so dark. Welcome to a Victorian neverland of dark myths, strange magicks and weird technologies. Herein, you will bear witness to the vengeance of angels, the birth of monsters and the death of man. Within the world of Wormweird lies the city of Wormwood, home to Baron Alchymus and the seat of his Olde Asylum Absinthe Empire. Though it is not for our world, the tarot is more than a tarot – it is the tale of the Wormweird World itself.”
-- George Higham (Creator of the Wormweird Tarot)

Last but certainly not least, Lesser Shades of Evil, out only for a short while, made its first GenCon appearance, complete with events. A dark vision of a future where the world has been overwritten and remade through all-too-human arrogance via high technology, the game has many options of play, whether one plays the valiant Awakened, trying to free the world from immortal domination... or playing one of the immortals themselves – the nanotech-based digital intellences called Angelions, who wear multiple bodies like you or I might wear gloves. The creator himself adds more detail:

“Thrust into the turbulent time known as the Second Age, players of Lesser Shades of Evil can create and play mighty Angelion characters in the years immediately following the great treachery; divided, scattered and leaderless, they roam the world as digital ghosts, wandering from flesh to flesh, known by many names and possessing many forms.”
-- Pierre Kakos (Creator of Lesser Shades of Evil)

SEATTLE, August 10th, 2007 / -- Eos Press Announces its New Releases at GenCon

Eos is proud to announce its attendance to GenCon 2007 – attending with new games and a full schedule of events to accompany them! This year, Eos is bringing four new products to the party – Unhallowed Metropolis, the Weapons of the Gods Companion, the Wormweird Tarot and the recently-released Lesser Shades of Evil! Look for us at Booth 611 – sharing with Game Source International!

“We have new settings for you, new rules to help you play, new visions to inspire you to create your own stories in new and interesting worlds… and in the case of the Tarot, a deck that not only can foretell a future but also describes the downfall of a fictional world.”

-- Brad Elliott (Product Developer for Eos Press)

Come and explore the darkly horrific world of Unhallowed Metropolis – the Neo-Victorian roleplaying game of gas-mask chic. Written by the talented writers Jason Soles (known for Iron Kingdoms & Warmachine) and the brightly intelligent newcomer Nicci Vega, it is a fast but easy-to-play game, in which the players struggle to win back the world from the horrors of the undead Plague. The world is tainted and corrupt – it needs you to both survive it and take it back from the hordes of zombies, the deadly infiltrations of vampires and the horrifyingly brutal thropes, each a horror that would cause Mr. Hyde to blanch.

“We take our subject matter very seriously. We did not plunge into writing the setting haphazardly. Before we began to write the game we spent months researching the Victorian era including history, society, politics, sciences, etc. It was only after we had a firm grasp of the subject matter that we felt comfortable really digging in. Unhallowed Metropolis is very much an alternate history, rather than a fantasy game with Victorian trappings."

-- Jason Soles (Co-Author of Unhallowed Metropolis, on the genesis of the game)

Then there is the Weapons of the Gods Companion - long awaited, finally on these shores! Fans of Weapons of the Gods can add an entire city set in the ancient era of martial arts – the City of the Poison Garden, Thrashing Minister! Or go to town making up their own new martial arts – whether to challenge their players, or to add to their clan. And with the Great Game included in the book, they can now play out the rise to power of their own kung fu clan – or even go for the throne and claim the mandate of heaven and become Emperor! All this and more in the Companion.

“Thrashing Minister has seen it all. It is a city that contains all the best and all the worst things that Shen Zhou has to offer. It is intensely cosmopolitan. Within its walls one may find nobles, ministers, spies from other states, gangsters, entertainers, Wulin adventurers, Daoist alchemists, court eunuchs, filthy rich merchants, homeless beggars, Buddhist monks, and con artists of every sort. Even to this day everyone comes to this city to see if they can absorb some of the luck of City of the Poison Garden – Thrashing Minister.”

-- Derek Fetters (Author of Thrashing Minister, from the Weapons of the Gods Companion)

And don’t miss Lesser Shades of Evil – a science-fantasy rpg of a twisted future! The entire world has been recreated via nanotechnology into the image of a madman’s dreams – and presided over by a group of digital immortals who can wear multiple bodies. You can play one of these immortals, the Angelions, or even play the Awakened – humans attempting to take their world back from the grip from the immortals!

“A good game requires a unique setting, excellent mechanics, a beautiful format and a good value. Hence, no corners were cut, and no idea left out. Lesser Shades of Evil provides a complex setting and unique characters, is gorgeous and uses fun dice mechanics; I've worked hard to make sure that the game has all of these things, and look forward to people getting to play it!”

-- Pierre Kakos (Creator of Lesser Shades of Evil)

Finally, be sure to have a look at the Wormweird Tarot – an all-new tarot deck designed and written by the Unhallowed Metropolis artist, George Higham. Each of the eighty cards has been individually designed, sculpted and photographed by Higham into a wonder – each based on the traditional tarot archetypes, only viewed through a darkly tinted lens. Depicting an alternate earth where the world has been dragged down into the darkness by human weakness and mystic experimentation, this deck can be truly described as both art and literature in one – for while the cards have their own twisted beauty, the codex – the manual for the deck – is both divinatory and descriptive of the Wormweird World’s descent into oblivion. At the show, you’ll even get to see some of the original sculptures from the creation of the deck! Those of you who enjoy Higham’s work for Unhallowed Metropolis will find the Tarot a companion piece for that book – the very deck the Neo-Victorians might use to foretell their own dark futures.

“What you hold in your hands is a chronicle of the fall of the City of Wormwood. It’s a strange chronicle, though, as it is not constructed in a chronological order. It exists as a dream might... fractured, weird and full of mystery. It is an enigma cloaked in darkness, open to interpretation while being faithful to the Tarot tradition.”

-- George Higham (Creator of the Wormweird Tarot, artist for Unhallowed Metropolis)
